Some of you might remember the dual-screened gScreen Spacebook notebook we featured here on Geeky Gadgets back in February 2009. Well, gScreen has now finally moved their dual-screen Spacebook into pre-ordering status after more than two years of development.
Enhanced Specifications and Screen Sizes
Over the last two years, the specifications and screen sizes have increased as you might expect to bring the systems more in line with power notebooks currently on the market, albeit with single screens. The Spacebook is now equipped with 17” full HD dual screens with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, providing a significant boost in display real estate and clarity. This makes it an excellent choice for professionals who require extensive screen space for multitasking, such as graphic designers, video editors, and software developers.
There are two models to choose from: either an Intel i5 4G or an i7 8G. The Intel Core i5-560M 2.66GHz processor is supported by 4GB of RAM and retails for $2395, but it is on special offer if you pre-order with a 50% saving. The Intel Core i7-740qm quad-core 1.74GHz processor, supported by 8GB of RAM, retails for $3795 but is also currently down by 50% for pre-orders. This makes the Spacebook not only a powerful machine but also a cost-effective solution for those who need high performance.
Practical Applications and Benefits
The dual-screen setup of the gScreen Spacebook offers numerous practical applications and benefits. For instance, financial analysts can have their spreadsheets open on one screen while conducting research on the other. Gamers can enjoy an immersive experience with extended screen space, and coders can write code on one screen while testing it on the other. The possibilities are endless, making the Spacebook a versatile tool for various professional and personal uses.
Moreover, the Spacebook’s design ensures that it remains portable despite its dual-screen feature. The screens slide out smoothly, and the laptop can be easily folded and carried around, making it convenient for users who are always on the go. The robust build quality ensures durability, and the high-resolution screens provide crisp and clear visuals, enhancing the overall user experience.
The Spacebook also includes other essential features such as multiple USB ports, HDMI output, and a robust cooling system to ensure that the laptop remains cool even during intensive tasks. The keyboard is ergonomically designed for comfortable typing, and the touchpad is responsive, providing a seamless user experience.
