George Hotz Denies Fleeing The US To Avoid Sony Lawsuit
Well that moral crusade didn’t last long. Gorge Hotz, iPhone and most recently and litigiously, PS3 hacker supreme has reportedly left the US for altogether more South American pastures while frustrating Sony’s attempts to seize his hard drives, PS3s, toothbrush and Playboy collection.
What at first looked like a principled stand for a person’s right to proudly run whatever software they feel like on their property is quickly turning into what could easily be called a circus but for the dearth of highly trained pachyderms. Sony claims that George Hotz not only disabled his hard drives before handing them over, but also lied to the court about creating a PSN account.
“Most seriously, after Magistrate Judge Spero ordered an inspection of Hotz’s devices and ordered Hotz to appear at a deposition in California, SCEA learned that Hotz had deliberately removed integral components of his impounded hard drives prior to delivering them to a third party neutral and that Hotz is now in South America, an excuse for why he will not immediately provide the components of his hard drives as requested by the neutral,” read the court document. The truth is probably sunbathing in Sao Paulo.
