Google Maps for Android has now received another update making six updates in six months. The latest update again focuses on the location finding feature and now allows you to find locations even easier.

In recent update Android Maps has received features like swiping between search results and info like photos, reviews, and more detailed content on the result pages.

Today’s update brings an easier way to locate places around you by using a dedicated Places icon. Allowing quick look ups and selecting a place to go using updated Place Pages similar to that recently updated on the computer version.

You can now customise the app with easy look up icons for your favourite place types and you can search either by typing or speech.

Google Maps for mobile 4.4 is available for Android 1.6 and above. To download the Map app either search for Google Maps in Market or tap here from your phone. Have a look and our article on Android vs iPhone to see which smartphone and mobile platform is best for you.
