Three new features which have been under development within Google Gmail Labs for some time have this week graduated from the confines of testing and are now available within standard Gmail accounts.
The new features that made the grade are Superstars, Nested Labels, and Advanced IMAP Controls. However, there was also one casualty with the retirement of the Google Search Box lab feature, which was added to the labs back in April 2009.
Superstars: Enhancing Email Prioritization
Superstars, one of the most popular Labs features, provides different types of stars in addition to Gmail’s basic one. This feature allows users to mark their emails with various colored stars and other icons, making it easier to prioritize and categorize emails at a glance. For instance, you can use a red star for urgent emails, a blue star for emails that need follow-up, and a green checkmark for completed tasks.
