Some of our readers will remember the Freedom 251 which was a new smartphone for India that would cost just $4.
The last thing we heard about the device was that the authorities in India were investigating it and the company behind it. It turns out that the device is actually real and it is launching in India on the 30th of June.
The device gets is name from its price, it will cost 251 rupees in India which is around $4 and around 200,000 units of the device have been sold in the first batch.
The handset comes with a 4 inch display with a 960 x 540 resolution display and it also comes with a quad core 1.3GHz processor and 1GB of RAM, there is also 8GB of RAM.
Other specifications on the handset include a 3.2 megapixel camera up front and an 8 megapixel camera on the back, the device comes with Android 5.1.
The company behind the device is apparently making a lasso on each handset but it is hoping to make that back in the future on volume sales.
