With Ford only making 250 2017 Ford GT cars and potential buyers having to apply for just the chance to own one, these will be some of the rarest cars on the road. As it turns out Ford dealerships authorized to service the supercar will be just as rare as the cars themselves. Not just any old Ford dealership will be able to fix issues that might happen to a Ford GT.
Internal dealer documents have surfaced that outline what the dealership needs to be an authorized Ford GT service center. The requirements include a strict protocol and $30,000 for unique equipment needed for servicing. The dealership will also need a special enclosed transport trailer for pickup and delivery of the car for service.
I guess Ford doesn’t want anyone to see its supercar broken and being hauled on an exposed trailer or tow truck. Only these authorized service dealers will be able to order parts for the Ford GT or submit warranty claims. Three repair levels are outlined with Group 1 being regular maintenance or light repair work. Group 2A is a complex diagnosis and the dealership will have guidance from a Multimatic technician. Multimatic builds the car for Ford. Group 2B has a Multimatic tech fly in to repair. Group 3 repairs require the car to be sent back to Multimatic.
