Landon Stinson has developed a new type of snorkel called the Extra Breath Snorkel, which as the name suggests allows you to take one extra breath of air with you under the water.
Allowing you to spend twice the amount of time underwater as you would when compared with using a standard snorkel. The unique snorkel has been launched over on the Kickstarter crowdfunding website and is now looking to raise $20,000 to make the jump into manufacture.
Watch the video below created by Landon as he explains the features and benefits of using his Extra Breath Snorkel compared to the snorkels already available on the market. He explains a little more :
“Have you ever been snorkeling in a pool, free-diving in a freshwater spring, exploring a reef, spearfishing, playing by a boat, looking for sea shells in the ocean or any other underwater activity and wished you could have been scuba diving – but you just don’t have the money, time, gear, tanks, lessons, spotter, etc. to do it?
I have. I spent most of my life in the water, at the beach, in the springs and on friends boats, but never had the money or time to take SCUBA lessons. Whenever my friends would scuba dive, I would just snorkel near the surface and try to make the most out of my situation, then I realized something; this simple, J shaped breathing tube can be improved. People have been snorkeling someway or another for centuries and with current innovations in pneumatics, it’s time to improve upon the age old design.
We plan on bringing you a device that bridges the gap between snorkeling and scuba diving; a very simple and easy to use device to double your amount of time, and fun, underwater. We give you, the Extra Breath Snorkel. Let’s change the meaning of ‘going snorkeling’. (The final product will be much more compact and ergonomic than the current prototype.) “
