It seems that the Canadian home improvement website Lowes has revealed details of the new Ecobee smart thermostat and home sensors without any official announcement from Ecobee. Even though the product pages have now been removed from Lowe’s the Zatz Not Funny website was able to capture the presented details and possible pricing of the new smart thermostat. Although no details on when the new hardware will be officially unveiled have been released as yet, the updated Ecobee thermostat and sensor are expected to launch imminently.
New features included with the updated smart thermostat include improved wireless connectivity, support for the streaming music service Spotify, Bluetooth connectivity and support for Amazon’s Virtual personal assistant Alexa. Offering Alexa calling, Alexa dropping and Alexa messaging.
While the new Ecobee home smart sensor now has an increased pairing range for improved communication as well as improved occupancy detection and battery life, as well as a new sleek design complete with optional mounting bracket. Unfortunately humidity monitoring is not yet available in the sensors but the system will provide quicker presence detection. Basic temperature and presence capabilities also appear to be backwards compatible with existing models.
