Shuhei Yoshida, President of SCE Worldwide Studios, confirmed yesterday that the new DriveClub PlayStation Plus Edition would be available from today to all PlayStation Plus members.
Development and Delays
During the game’s development, there have been a few delays, which have been a source of frustration for eager fans. These delays were primarily due to the developers’ commitment to ensuring a high-quality gaming experience. The team at Evolution Studios faced numerous challenges, including technical issues and the need to fine-tune the game’s extensive social and multiplayer features. However, from today, all PlayStation Plus members can download the DriveClub PS Plus Edition and begin playing in offline mode straight away.
The DriveClub PS Plus Edition offers a taste of the full game, allowing players to experience a selection of cars and tracks. This edition is designed to give players a glimpse of the game’s stunning graphics, realistic driving mechanics, and the intricate social features that set DriveClub apart from other racing games.
Online Access and Multiplayer Features
The online DriveClub PS Plus access will also start rolling out today, allowing more and more drivers to enjoy the fun over time. This staggered release is intended to ensure that ‘all game systems are running smoothly’. Yoshida explains more:
We have to take this precaution because Driveclub connectivity is demanding for a multiplayer game, with countless ever-growing social connections across clubs, challenges, multiplayer, and hundreds of thousands of dynamic leaderboards and activity feeds.
We’ve spent a long time preparing for this launch after some difficult and unexpected set-backs. To make absolutely certain that all players have the smoothest and most stable experience possible we are going to be duly cautious about how we release the game this time around.
DriveClub’s multiplayer mode is one of its standout features, offering a highly competitive and social experience. Players can join clubs, participate in challenges, and compete in multiplayer races. The game’s dynamic leaderboards and activity feeds keep players engaged and motivated to improve their skills and climb the ranks.
The staggered release of the online features is a strategic move to prevent server overload and ensure a seamless experience for all players. This approach allows the developers to monitor the game’s performance and address any issues that may arise during the initial rollout.
