Apple fans looking for a project to keep them busy over the weekend may be inspired by this awesome DIY mini G5 Hackintosh created by Thigiverse member MrZii. The custom case has been created for the hackintosh which has been built with the following specifications: Intel Core i7 6700K, GIGABYTE GA-Z170N-WIFI, 16GB DDR4 RAM, ARCTIC Freezer Heatsink, and Slimline Power Supply.
Building the Custom Case
Created a custom case for my hackintosh, it resembles a minified Power Mac G5. I have uploaded the parts to Thingiverse in case you’d like to make one of your own. The case is easy to print on a 300×300 printer, flat parts can be printed or laser cut to save time. Everything slides together smoothly, bondo and primer were used to smooth the printed parts. The design of the case is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional, providing adequate ventilation and easy access to internal components.
The process of creating the custom case involves several steps. First, you need to download the 3D printing files from Thingiverse. Once you have the files, you can start printing the parts using a 3D printer. If you have access to a laser cutter, you can use it to cut the flat parts, which can save you a significant amount of time. After printing or cutting all the parts, you need to assemble them. The parts are designed to slide together smoothly, but you may need to use some bondo and primer to smooth out any rough edges and ensure a perfect fit.
Technical Specifications and Performance
The hackintosh is built with high-performance components to ensure it can handle a variety of tasks. The Intel Core i7 6700K processor provides plenty of processing power, making it suitable for tasks such as video editing, gaming, and software development. The GIGABYTE GA-Z170N-WIFI motherboard offers built-in Wi-Fi, which is convenient for connecting to wireless networks. With 16GB of DDR4 RAM, the system can handle multiple applications running simultaneously without any lag. The ARCTIC Freezer Heatsink ensures that the processor stays cool, even under heavy loads, and the Slimline Power Supply provides reliable power to all the components.

Building a hackintosh can be a rewarding project for tech enthusiasts. It allows you to customize your computer to meet your specific needs and preferences. Additionally, it can be a cost-effective way to get a high-performance computer without paying the premium price for an Apple product. However, building a hackintosh does require some technical knowledge and skills, so it may not be suitable for everyone. If you are new to building computers, you may want to start with a simpler project before attempting to build a hackintosh.
