DirecTV has been my TV provider of choice for a long time now. Mostly because the cable company in my area is really bad offering like 15 HD channels. I am a huge DVR fan and have long wished for more storage space on my DirecTV DVR and the ability to watch the programs I record on other TVs.
DirecTV has announced a new service called Whole Home DVR. The service adds $3 monthly to your bill and you have to have HD DVRs for the service to work. Other equipment may be needed as well, but DirecTV doesn’t specify. There has to be some sort of networking gear involved to shoot the programs around the home.
The service will let you watch recorded shows from a DVR on your network to up to 15 other rooms. Each of those rooms gets full control over recordings and full parental controls. You can also put multiple DVRs on the network to record more programs at once.
