Ilya Evdokimov has designed and developed a very unique desktop scanner which has a very different design to the traditional flatbed, or multipage feed scanners currently available.
The DigitEYE scanner provides a smart high resolution document scanner complete with companion archiving software, which also doubles as a modern LED lamp freeing up your desk space, which can be lost when using large flatbed scanners.
Watch the demonstration video below to learn more about the unique DigitEYE scanner which has taken to Kickstarter this week to raise the $100,000 it requires over the next 28 days, to go into production. The creator of the unique scanner explains a little more about its inspiration, construction and design.
DigitEYE is a modern, compact and eco-friendly desk lamp and document scanner. This unobtrusive, yet powerful document scanner is powered by the latest state-of-the-art image processing and OCR technology for scanning, storage and management of paperless office.
The inspiration came from first-hand experience over the years, as well those shared by my clients. We frequently found ourselves needing or wanting to sign, scan, email, preserve and file important business and personal documents. Scanning everything from client agreements, articles, business cards, expense reports, and utility bills took far too much time for it to be useful or efficient.
For many years I had a professional grade scanner on my desk. These desktop scanners range in cost from $500 (Fujitsu ScanSnap) to $1,200 (Kodak i1220). They require manually feeding paper while taking up valuable desktop space. They are hard to use at the best of times and with irregular-shape documents such as receipts and business cards. they are impossible. Even as someone who designs and builds scanners for a living, it would take me nearly 2 minutes to scan, save, and email something as simple as a 4 page contract.
DigitEYE is a compact and extremely effective scanner that takes up less than 3 inches of desktop space. When on, it automatically scans documents placed on your desk. No technological knowledge needed, no clicking, no frustration. In less than 1 second, DigitEYE will scan, save and upload or send any document, book, or manuscript.
Jump over to the Kickstarter website to help take the unique scanner into production with pledges starting from $299 and shipping expected to take place during March 2017.
