A new ceramic 3D printer has launched via Kickstarter this week in the form of the Digitalceram, offering a fast accurate easy-to-use ceramic 3D printer capable of transforming complex models and artwork into 3D ceramic objects. Check out the demonstration video below to learn more about the ceramic 3D printer which is now available via Kickstarter with early bird pledges from £185 offering a 60% discount off the recommended retail price.
Technical specifications for the ceramic 3D printer include :
“Ceramics has been used as the basis for fine art since the dawn of time. However, traditional process makes ceramic creation more difficult. Today, we are excited to introduce the Digitalceram, a fast, accurate and easy-to-use ceramic 3D printer that brings your ceramic creativity to life. Cartesian printers are the common form of 3D extrusion printing technology thanks to the ease of use and the capability of producing better finish with fewer imperfections than Delta printers. Delta printers are the popular option as it can print with high printing speed, but this design tactic has its drawbacks. The high speed is not friendly for the soft clay. Another disadvantage lies in the extrusion system. Delta printers are unable to drive a larger weight. The extrusion systems of most Delta Printer are not powerful enough as the extrusion system can only use the light-weight design.”
“Traditional ceramic 3D printers often prefer to adopt air pressure solution considering its stability. An air compressor is necessary for the solution and it’s quite expensive. To reduce the cost, some companies would use step motors to press clay. However, when the resistance of clay turns bigger than step motor’s torque, the step motor will always lose step, the output torque will not stabilize. That will let print works have some defect. To solve these problems, we developed a mini air compress system. It will output stable air pressure to support high quality print.”
