BoO Barcelona based in Spain has created a new lead holder or propelling pencil constructed from carbon fibre providing a lightweight easy-to-use sketching, note taking and drawing tool that is capable of accepting a wide variety of different leads.

“Carbonara pencil is the first lead holder where carbon fiber has a real purpose and it is the main focus. We have always wanted to design with carbon fiber, but we didn’t just want visual elements without a real use. For this reason, we have been working the technical characteristics of carbon fiber for more than a year, to develop a 2 mm lead holder which can only be produced in carbon fiber: CARBONARA pencil.”
“The Carbonara pencil doesn’t have any mechanisms and it works through bending of the carbon fiber 3K sarga with a bidirectional fiber orientation and aluminum 5000 serie. This set acts as a pen. When you press the carbon fiber it opens and the lead slides out and when you stop pressing, it closes.”
