Bowers & Wilkins has this week added a new speaker to their range of products in the form of the new Bowers & Wilkins AM-1 Speaker, which has been designed for indoor or outdoor use and can be used in “all weathers” says Bowers & Wilkins.
The new AM-1 Architectural Monitor is a fully weatherproof loudspeaker offering users a unique combination of high-quality sound, durability and supreme flexibility.
Bowers & Wilkins have equipped their AM-1 speaker with a two-way design, featuring an inverted drive unit configuration : with the AM-1’s 1inch (25mm) aluminium dome tweeter mounted below rather than above, the 5inch (130mm) glass-fiber bass/midrange driver.
“AM-1’s low-frequency output is bolstered by the use of a rear-mounted auxiliary bass radiator (ABR). Used instead of a conventional bass reflex port, the ABR endows AM-1 with exceptional bass response for a cabinet of its size. Unlike a port, it also provides AM-1’s cabinet with a continual seal against the elements. This combination of advanced drive units, unique configuration and classically simple crossover components combines to create a loudspeaker as musical as it is flexible.”
The latest Bowers & Wilkins AM-1 All Weather Speaker will be available to purchase next month for around $300.
