Sony has this week at E3 unveiled their new PlayStation 4 exclusive action role-playing game for PS4, Bloodborne, from Hidetaka Miyazaki and FromSoftware, creators of Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, and Dark Souls II.
The Bloodborne PS4 is being developed to provide gamers with an action-packed RPG brimming with unforgiving, unrelenting terror, says Sony, and the first Bloodborne PS4 trailer allows you to see a first glimpse at the game’s storyline.
Game Setting and Atmosphere
“Face your fears as you search for answers in the ancient city of Yharnam, now cursed with a strange endemic illness spreading through the streets like wildfire. Danger, death, and madness lurk around every corner of this dark and horrific world, and you must discover its darkest secrets in order to survive.”
The city of Yharnam is depicted as a gothic, Victorian-era metropolis, filled with narrow alleyways, towering cathedrals, and eerie, fog-covered streets. The atmosphere is designed to evoke a sense of dread and unease, with every shadow potentially hiding a deadly threat. The game’s art direction and environmental storytelling are crucial in immersing players in this nightmarish world.
Gameplay Mechanics and Features
Bloodborne introduces several new gameplay mechanics that set it apart from its predecessors. One of the most notable features is the “Regain” system, which allows players to recover lost health by quickly counter-attacking enemies after taking damage. This encourages a more aggressive playstyle, as opposed to the more defensive strategies often employed in the Dark Souls series.
The game also features a variety of weapons, each with unique transformations and abilities. For example, the iconic Saw Cleaver can switch between a short-range, fast-attacking mode and a longer, more powerful form. This versatility allows players to adapt their combat style to different situations and enemies.
Another significant addition is the Chalice Dungeons, procedurally generated levels that offer endless replayability. These dungeons provide a constant challenge, with randomized layouts, enemies, and rewards, ensuring that no two runs are ever the same.
Multiplayer and Online Features
Bloodborne also includes robust multiplayer and online features. Players can summon allies to assist them in difficult areas or boss fights, or they can invade other players’ worlds to engage in PvP combat. The game uses a unique “Insight” system to manage these interactions, adding another layer of strategy and depth to the experience.
Unfortunately, no information on a worldwide Bloodborne PS4 release date has been announced as yet, but as soon as information comes to light we will keep you updated as always.
