As well as announcing their new BlackBerry Z10 smartphone, RIM also announced another new BlackBerry 10 handset, the BlackBerry Q10, which is RIM’s first QWERTY BlackBerry 10 smartphone.
The BlackBerry Q10 is powered by RIM’s new BlackBerry 10 OS, and it features a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of built-in storage. There is also a 3.1-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 720 x 720 pixels and a QWERTY keyboard.
Camera Capabilities
Other specifications on the BlackBerry Q10 include the same cameras as on the BlackBerry Z10. Up front, there is a 2-megapixel camera with 3x digital zoom and the ability to record HD video in 720p. On the back of the device is an 8-megapixel camera with auto-focus, 5x digital zoom, and full HD video recording in 1080p. These camera features make the BlackBerry Q10 a versatile device for both casual photography and video recording, ensuring users can capture high-quality images and videos on the go.
Design and Build
The BlackBerry Q10 stands out with its classic QWERTY keyboard, which is a significant draw for users who prefer physical keys over touchscreens for typing. The keyboard is designed to provide a comfortable and efficient typing experience, which is ideal for business professionals and heavy texters. The device’s 3.1-inch AMOLED display offers vibrant colors and sharp visuals, making it suitable for viewing multimedia content and browsing the web.
In terms of build quality, the BlackBerry Q10 features a robust and premium design, with materials that ensure durability and a comfortable grip. The back of the device has a textured finish, which not only adds to its aesthetic appeal but also provides additional grip to prevent accidental drops.
Software and Performance
Running on the BlackBerry 10 OS, the Q10 offers a range of features designed to enhance productivity and user experience. The operating system includes BlackBerry Hub, which consolidates all your messages, notifications, and social media updates in one place, allowing for seamless management of communications. Additionally, the BlackBerry Balance feature enables users to separate work and personal data, ensuring that sensitive information remains secure.
The dual-core 1.5GHz processor and 2GB of RAM ensure smooth performance, whether you’re multitasking, browsing the web, or running apps. The 16GB of internal storage provides ample space for apps, photos, and videos, and if you need more storage, the device supports expandable memory via a microSD card slot.
Connectivity and Battery Life
The BlackBerry Q10 comes equipped with a range of connectivity options, including 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC. These features ensure that users can stay connected and share data effortlessly. The device also includes a microUSB port for charging and data transfer, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack for audio connectivity.
Battery life is another strong point of the BlackBerry Q10. The device is equipped with a removable 2100mAh battery, which provides enough power to last through a full day of moderate to heavy use. This is particularly beneficial for business users who rely on their smartphones for communication and productivity throughout the day.
RIM will launch the BlackBerry Q10 around April of this year in the US. You can find out more details about the handset over at the Geeky Gadgets website.
