Irrational Games has released a 2-minute teaser video of its E3 Award Winning demo of BioShock Infinite, and will be releasing the full 14-minute demo next week.
When shown at E3, the demo helped the new BioShock Infinite game win the prestigious “Best of Show” and “Best Action/Adventure Game” awards at E3.

The Anticipation Builds
Next week, the full 14-minute preview in all its glory will be shown on Spike TV on the 7th of July as part of a special half-hour program dedicated to the new BioShock Infinite game. This extended preview is highly anticipated by fans and critics alike, as it promises to showcase more of the game’s innovative mechanics, stunning visuals, and intricate storytelling. BioShock Infinite will be released sometime in 2012 on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
BioShock Infinite is set in the floating city of Columbia, a stark departure from the underwater dystopia of Rapture featured in the previous BioShock games. The game follows protagonist Booker DeWitt as he attempts to rescue Elizabeth, a young woman with mysterious powers, from the clutches of the city’s various factions. The dynamic between Booker and Elizabeth is central to the game’s narrative, with Elizabeth’s abilities playing a crucial role in both combat and exploration.
Innovative Gameplay Mechanics
One of the standout features of BioShock Infinite is its use of the “Sky-Line” system, a network of roller-coaster-like rails that crisscross the city. This system allows for fast-paced, vertical combat and traversal, adding a new layer of strategy and excitement to the gameplay. Players can use the Sky-Lines to quickly move between different areas, evade enemies, and launch surprise attacks from above.
In addition to the Sky-Line system, BioShock Infinite introduces a variety of new weapons and powers, known as “Vigors.” These abilities range from telekinesis to summoning flocks of crows to attack enemies, providing players with numerous options for customizing their combat style. The game’s AI is also designed to be more dynamic and responsive, with enemies adapting to the player’s tactics and working together to pose a greater challenge.
The game’s art direction and world-building have also been widely praised. Columbia is a vibrant, living city with a rich history and a complex social structure. The game’s developers have gone to great lengths to create a believable and immersive environment, filled with detailed architecture, period-appropriate music, and a diverse cast of characters. This attention to detail helps to draw players into the world of BioShock Infinite and makes the experience all the more engaging.
The teaser video released by Irrational Games has already generated a significant amount of buzz, with fans eagerly dissecting every frame for clues about the game’s story and mechanics. The full 14-minute demo is expected to provide even more insight into what players can expect from BioShock Infinite, and it is likely to further heighten the excitement surrounding the game’s release.
As the release date approaches, fans of the BioShock series are eagerly awaiting the chance to explore the world of Columbia and uncover its many secrets. With its innovative gameplay mechanics, compelling narrative, and stunning visuals, BioShock Infinite is shaping up to be one of the most exciting and ambitious games of 2012.
