Belkin has this week announced the availability of its WeMo home automation devices which were first revealed back in CES at the beginning of the year. Belkin has designed its WeMo home automation system to provide users with motion sensors and switches which can be connected to your Wi-Fi network and then controlled using a custom iOS application.
Belkin has also designed a new WeMo home automation system with IFTTT integration, that will allow a lot more functions to be carried out through the devices, rather than simply just turning them on or off. Watch the video demonstration below to see how the system can help you automate your house. Jamie Elgie, senior director of product management for Belkin explains:
“WeMo uses familiar technology to create a plug-and-play solution for controlling gadgets and appliances remotely,” – “Designed to address simple automation needs without the hassle or expense of whole home automation, WeMo is an easy and fun way to put your home at your fingertips.”-“With these two simple devices and the free WeMo app, you can create a variety of tasks or recipes, and integration with IFTTT is just one more way to make WeMo yours”
Unfortunately at the current time Belkin has not released any information on whether an Android application is in development or going to be released in the near future.
The Belkin WeMo range is now available to pre-order from Amazon, Apple and the Belkin website, with the WeMo Switch F7C027fcAPL – $49.99 and WeMo Switch + Motion F5Z0340fcAPL – $99.99 available.
