Baldur’s Gate fans will be pleased to know that rumours are circulating online this week, that the development team at Larian Studios has acquired the Baldur’s Gate license and maybe creating a Baldur’s Gate 3 game in the near future, although at the current time none of this has been confirmed. Larian Studios is the creative team responsible for designing and building the awesome Divinity Original Sin series of recently launched role-playing games.
A comment on the RPG Codex community forums has sparked the rumours, with member Bester writing. “New colleague of mine is a former Larian employee. He says Swen acquired the Baldur’s Gate license. No further information on when they’re going to use it and for what, but they have it.”
The WCCFTech website reached out to Larian Studios but the company’s representative denied the rumour, explaining that the company hasn’t bought any IP and they are continuing to work on the Divinity series. Although the next project currently codenamed Gustav will be unveiled only when the time is right. Exciting stuff.
As soon as more details are announced regards a Baldur’s Gate 3 game or project Gustav we will keep you up to speed as always.
