Marco Arment creator of the awesome Instapaper app that allows you to bookmark website pages to read later at a more convenient time, has today announced that he has made the popular off-line reading application free on both iOS and Android devices.
Now that the Instapaper app is free to download Macro has also launched a premium version which as explained provides enhanced searching as well as unlimited highlighting for a monthly cost of $2.99 or $29.99 annually.
The Instapaper app has been available from the iOS App Store since around 2008 and was priced at around $4 for users to enjoy. If you have already purchased the Instapaper app Marco is offering previous users a free one month subscription to the premium version which allows you to enjoy full text search and unlimited highlights. Instapaper 6 is now available for iOS and Instapaper 4 for Android devices Marco explains a little more :
“In addition to Instapaper’s share extension on iOS 8, we’ve launched a Today extension to help you keep up with your day’s Instapapering. The Today extension shows you all the stuff you’ve saved that day and lets you open articles with one tap.
One of our users’ most common feature requests has been for a text-to-speech function, and we’re happy to announce that we now have text-to-speech support in both our iOS and Android apps! Text-to-speech is accessible directly from the share sheet in Instapaper and you can control the playback right on your lock screen.”
