Apple released their iOS 12 software last month along with their new iPhone X and iPhone X handsets, and now we have the latest iOS adoption figures.
According to a recent report from Mixpanel, adoption of Apple’s latest version of iOS has now hit 46 percent.
This is around where iOS 11 was the same time last year, and iOS 12 is expected to overtake iOS 11 adoption shortly.
Performance Improvements and New Features
Apple’s iOS 12 is designed to bring a range of speed and performance improvements to older Apple devices. It is supported by a wide range of devices like the iPhone 5S and above. One of the key highlights of iOS 12 is its focus on enhancing the user experience by making older devices run faster and more efficiently. For instance, Apple claims that apps launch up to 40% faster, the keyboard appears up to 50% faster, and the camera opens up to 70% faster on older devices.
In addition to performance improvements, iOS 12 introduces several new features. Screen Time is a notable addition, allowing users to monitor and manage their device usage. This feature provides detailed reports on how much time you spend on your device and within individual apps, helping you make more informed decisions about your digital habits.
Enhanced Augmented Reality and Group FaceTime
Another significant enhancement in iOS 12 is the improved augmented reality (AR) capabilities. With ARKit 2, developers can create more immersive AR experiences that can be shared with friends. This opens up new possibilities for gaming, education, and various other applications. For example, the Measure app uses AR to turn your device into a virtual tape measure, allowing you to measure objects and spaces with ease.
Group FaceTime is another exciting feature introduced in iOS 12. This allows you to video chat with up to 32 people simultaneously, making it easier to stay connected with family and friends. The feature also includes fun effects like Animoji and Memoji, which add a playful element to your conversations.
Security and Privacy Enhancements
Security and privacy have always been a priority for Apple, and iOS 12 continues this tradition with several enhancements. The new operating system includes features like automatic strong passwords, which help you create and store complex passwords for your online accounts. Additionally, iOS 12 introduces improved tracking prevention in Safari, making it harder for advertisers to track your online activity.
If you haven’t upgraded yet, it is definitely worth looking at upgrading to iOS 12. The combination of performance improvements, new features, and enhanced security makes it a compelling update for all Apple users.
