Apple has revealed its latest iOS distribution figures and the latest version of its mobile OS, iOS 11 is now on 76% of devices. These devices include the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
This has increased around 11 percent since January, as iOS 11 was sitting at just 65 percent distribution.
Apple’s iOS 10 is now only on 19 percent of devices and older versions of iOS are on just 5% of devices.
Apple’s iOS 11 has a slower adoption rate than the previous years release of iOS 10, this is mainly because of some issues with the software, which are now being addressed. Apple has released a number of updates to iOS over the last few months that have fixed many of the problems.
This should encourage more people to upgrade to the latest version of iOS. We are expecting to find out more details about iOS 12 at WWDC in June. Apple are leaving out lots of features from this OS and focusing more on quality, which should encourage more people to upgrade to the OS.
We are expecting iOS 12 to be release some time in September or October along with the new iPhone X handsets. It will be interesting to see if focusing more on quality helps Apple with adoption of their new OS.
