Apple and Samsung have been fighting it out in court over the last seven years and now it looks like there may be a conclusion to this long running case between the two companies.
Back in 2012 Apple was awarded damages of over $1 billion because Samsung was found to have copied Apple’s iPhone. Samsung has challenged this a number of times and has also challenged the damages awarded.
The two companies headed back to court earlier this month, the case has now been concluded and Apple has been awarded $539 million in damages. This hopefully should be the last case on these patent infringements.
Apple said that they “agree that Samsung should pay for copying our products.” they also said that “This case has always been about more than money,” the tech giant said, adding that it was important that it continued to protect the “hard work and innovation of so many people at Apple”.
Apart from the patent case, the two companies have a business relationship and Samsung is a major supplier of parts for Apple’s iPhones.
