Apple has yet to release any number on how many units of the Apple Watch they have sold, this may happen later this month during their Q1 2016 earnings call.
According to a recent report by Juniper Research, Apple managed to take a 52% share of the global smartwatch sales in 2015.
Apple launched their Apple Watch at the end of April last year and it has apparently outsold all of the other smart watches on the market, according to the report, sales of Android Wear devices made up around 10% of device sales in 2015.
Juniper Research also revealed that sales of the Samsung Gear S2 had not been as high as Samsung had expected.
According to the new research, Samsung’s Tizen-based Gear S2 has not achieved strong sales volumes since it launched in November despite being well received. Most other smartwatch sales are currently coming from cheaper, simpler devices from a range of smaller players, such as Martian, X and Razer, the latter with the recently-announced Nabu Watch.
Smart watches are expected to become more popular in 2016, it will be interesting to see if Apple continues to be the most popular smart watch available. We are hoping to find out more details on how many units of their device Apple has sold so far later this month.
