We heard recently that Google had decided to buy Motorola, who are currently suing Apple, and now Apple is looking to use the Google takeover of Motorola to its advantage.
According to Foss Patents, Apple has asked the courts that the two lawsuits being brought against Apple by Motorola be put on hold until the Google and Motorola deal goes through.
On Friday, Apple filed motions to stay in two of its various lawsuits with Motorola, arguing that the pending acquisition of Motorola Mobility (MMI) by Google has resulted in “a fundamental loss of Motorola’s patent rights”.
It will be interesting to see what happens when the Google deal goes through, and whether they will file the same lawsuits against Apple over the same patents.
