According to a recent report by the BGR, Apple will show off a new version of their Apple TV software at this year’s World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC), which takes place from the 11th to the 15th of June.
The new version of Apple’s TV OS is expected to come with a range of new features, and is apparently the same version that Apple’s rumored HDTV set will run.
New Features and Enhancements
According to the report, Apple is in talks with third-party manufacturers to use a new ‘control out’ API which would make accessories compatible with Apple’s new TV OS. This API could potentially open up a wide range of possibilities for developers and accessory makers, allowing for more integrated and seamless user experiences. For example, imagine being able to control your Apple TV with a universal remote that also manages your home theater system, or using specialized gaming controllers designed specifically for Apple TV games.
Additionally, there are speculations that the new TV OS might include enhanced Siri capabilities, allowing users to navigate and control their TV using voice commands more effectively. This could include searching for content across multiple streaming services, adjusting settings, and even controlling smart home devices connected to Apple’s HomeKit ecosystem.
Integration with Other Apple Services
Another exciting possibility is deeper integration with other Apple services such as Apple Music, Apple Arcade, and Apple Fitness+. Imagine being able to seamlessly switch from watching a movie to playing a game on Apple Arcade, or even following a workout routine on Apple Fitness+ without needing to switch devices. This level of integration could make the Apple TV a central hub for entertainment and lifestyle activities in the home.
Moreover, there are rumors that Apple might introduce new content partnerships and exclusive deals to enhance the value proposition of their TV OS. This could include exclusive shows, movies, and even live sports events, making the Apple TV a more compelling option for consumers looking for a comprehensive entertainment solution.
There are no details as yet on exactly what new features will be added to the next version of Apple’s TV software, but the anticipation is certainly building. As soon as we get some more information, we will let you guys know.
