Apple has updated their Apple Store app for their iOS devices, and the latest version now adds in support for Apple’s voice-activated virtual assistant Siri. You can now also send Passbook-enabled gift cards to your friends via email using the app, although the gift card features do not seem to have been enabled as yet.

What’s New in Version 2.4
– Buy new gift cards and email them to friends and family right from the app. These gift cards are easily integrated with the new Passbook app (U.S. only, iOS 6 required).
– Ask Siri to help you find prices and shop for Apple products. (Siri-enabled device required.)
Enhanced Shopping Experience with Siri
The integration of Siri into the Apple Store app marks a significant enhancement in the shopping experience for users. With Siri, you can now effortlessly search for products, check prices, and even make purchases using just your voice. This hands-free approach is particularly useful for users who are on the go or those who prefer a more streamlined shopping experience. For example, you can simply say, “Hey Siri, find the latest iPhone models,” and Siri will promptly display the available options along with their prices. This feature not only saves time but also makes the shopping process more interactive and engaging.
Convenient Gift Card Features
The ability to send Passbook-enabled gift cards via email is another noteworthy addition to the Apple Store app. Although this feature is currently limited to the U.S. and requires iOS 6, it offers a convenient way to send gifts to friends and family. These digital gift cards can be easily integrated with the Passbook app, allowing recipients to store and use them directly from their iOS devices. This eliminates the need for physical cards and makes the gifting process more efficient. Imagine being able to send a birthday gift card to a friend across the country within seconds, all from the comfort of your home. This feature is expected to gain popularity, especially during holiday seasons and special occasions.
