China Mobile is the world’s largest phone company in terms of the amount of subscribers it has, and now China Mobile’s Chairman Xi Guohua has announced at its recent shareholder meeting that the company is in talks with Apple to sell Apple’s iPhone.
Xi did not reveal how far along the discussions were with the two companies, although he did say that he can’t predict if the two companies will come to an agreement this year.
“China Mobile and Apple both have the will to strengthen cooperation,” Xi said. “When there is more specific news, we will disclose it.”
China Mobile recently released information on how many mobile phone subscribers it has, at the end of March the company had 667.2 million mobile phone subscribers.
If Apple and China Mobile did strike a deal for the company to carry the iPhone, we suspect that it would have quite an impact on the amount of iPhones Apple sells.
