Samsung is working on the Android Nougat update for their Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones.
Now some more details about the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge have been revealed.
Grace UX and Enhanced Features
The Android Nougat update will bring the Grace UX from the Galaxy Note 7 to the S7 and S7 Edge. Grace UX is Samsung’s custom user interface that offers a more refined and user-friendly experience. It includes a cleaner design, smoother animations, and a more intuitive layout. This update will also introduce some more Always On Display features to the handsets. Always On Display allows users to see important information such as the time, date, and notifications without having to wake up their phone, which can save battery life and provide convenience.
In addition to the Grace UX, the Nougat update will bring several other improvements and new features. For example, users can expect enhanced multi-window support, allowing them to run two apps simultaneously in a split-screen mode. This feature is particularly useful for multitasking, such as watching a video while browsing the web or chatting with friends.
Performance and Battery Enhancements
The Android Nougat update will also include performance enhancements that will make the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge run more smoothly and efficiently. This includes improvements to the Doze mode, which helps to extend battery life by putting the device into a low-power state when it is not being used. The updated Doze mode in Nougat is more aggressive and can activate even when the phone is in motion, such as when it is in a pocket or bag.
Another significant improvement is the introduction of Vulkan API support, which will enhance the gaming experience on the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Vulkan API is a low-overhead, cross-platform 3D graphics and computing API that allows developers to create high-performance graphics applications. This means that games and other graphics-intensive apps will run more smoothly and with better visuals.
Furthermore, the Nougat update will bring improved notifications, allowing users to reply directly from the notification shade without having to open the app. This feature, known as Direct Reply, can save time and make it easier to manage communications. Additionally, bundled notifications will group multiple notifications from the same app together, making it easier to manage and view them.
As yet there are no details on when Samsung will release the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the S7 and S7 Edge. However, it is expected that the update will be rolled out in phases, starting with unlocked devices and then moving on to carrier-specific models. As soon as we get some details on a release date, we will let you guys know.
