We have been hearing rumors about Amazon’s set top box over the last few months, the device is now official, and it is called the Amazon Fire TV.
Shortly after the announcement of the new Amazon Fire TV, Amazon started selling the device in the US, it is only available in the US at the moment.

Our exclusive new ASAP feature predicts the shows you’ll want to watch and gets them ready to stream instantly. And our open approach gives you not just Amazon Instant Video and Prime Instant Video, but also Netflix, Hulu Plus, and more. On Fire TV you can watch Alpha House and House of Cards.”
The Amazon Fire TV is designed to stream digital content from Amazon Prime and a number of other streaming services, which include Hulu Plus, and Netflix.
The device is powered by a quad core processor, which Amazon says has three times the processing power of the Apple TV, Google Chromecast and the Roku 3.
It also comes with Adreno 320 graphics and 2GB of RAM, plus dual band WiFi and the ability to stream Full HD content in 1080p.
The Amazon Fire TV also comes with 7.1 Dolby Digital Plus surround sound, and as well as streaming content, the device can also be used to play games.
Amazon’s new set top both comes with a new feature called ASAP or Advanced Steaming And Prediction, which is designed to stream content automatically without the need for buffering.
The ASAP function works by learning your viewing habits from previous content and is designed to predict what other shows or movies you will watch, ASAP then prepares these for playback.
Amazon are also releasing a game controller for the Amazon Fire TV, and they have teamed up with a number of game developers, which include Disney, EA, Gameloft, Ubisoft, Mojang and more to create titles for the Fire TV.
The Amazon Fire TV is now available in the US for $99, and you will get a free 30 day subscription to Amazon Prime and Netflix when you purchase the device.
The Fire TV Game Controller retails for $39.99, with this you get a free copy of Sev Zero, a new game developed by Amazon, plus 10,000 Amazon Coins, which are worth $10 to purchase more games.
As yet there are no details on when the Amazon Fire TV will launch outside the US, as soon as we get some more information on when it will launch in the UK, we will let you guys know.
