Amazon has reduced the price of their Amazon Fire Phone in the UK again, and the handset can now be bought for just £99.
The new price for the Amazon Fire Phone is without a contract, although you will only be able to use it with mobile carrier O2 as the device is locked to their network.
Amazon Fire Phone Specifications
As a reminder, the handset features a 4.7 inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The device is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz, plus 2GB of RAM. This combination ensures that the phone can handle most tasks with ease, from browsing the web to running various applications smoothly.
The handset features front and rear-facing cameras. On the back of the Fire Phone is a 13-megapixel camera, which is capable of capturing high-quality photos and videos. The camera includes features such as optical image stabilization, which helps reduce blur in photos and videos, especially in low-light conditions. On the front of the handset is a 2.1-megapixel camera, suitable for selfies and video calls.
The device also comes with WiFi, Bluetooth, and 4G LTE connectivity, ensuring that you can stay connected to the internet and other devices. The inclusion of 4G LTE means that you can enjoy faster internet speeds, which is particularly useful for streaming videos, downloading large files, and online gaming.
Unique Features and Ecosystem
One of the unique features of the Amazon Fire Phone is its integration with Amazon’s ecosystem. The phone comes with Fire OS, Amazon’s custom operating system based on Android. This OS provides seamless access to Amazon’s services, including Prime Video, Kindle eBooks, and Amazon Music. Additionally, the Fire Phone includes a feature called Firefly, which allows users to quickly identify and purchase products, music, and more by simply pointing the phone’s camera at an item.
Another notable feature is the Dynamic Perspective, which uses four front-facing cameras to create a 3D-like effect on the screen. This feature allows for unique interactions and experiences, such as tilting the phone to scroll through web pages or viewing images from different angles.
Despite its innovative features, the Amazon Fire Phone faced challenges in the competitive smartphone market. Its initial high price and limited app ecosystem were significant drawbacks. However, the reduced price of £99 makes it an attractive option for those looking for a budget-friendly smartphone with unique features.
