Amazon Channels Launched In The UK

Amazon has announce the launch of their Amazon Channels service in the UK, the service brings a wide range of live TV channels to Amazon Prime Members.

The Amazon Channels are available for a monthly fees with prices starting at $1.49 per month and you do not need to subscribe to bundles, instead you subscribe to individual channels.

“For the first time, Prime members in the UK and Germany will be able to choose to watch premium TV channels without having to sign up to a bundle or a contract, giving them the freedom to pay for only what they want to watch,” said Alex Green, MD, Europe, Amazon Channels. “From live sport to Bollywood, arthouse cinema to reality TV, and award-winning TV shows from popular channels like Discovery and ITV, Amazon Channels gives power back to customers to choose exactly what they want to watch.”

Susanna Dinnage, President of Discovery Networks UK and Chief Content Officer, International, said: “We are delighted to bring our premium factual and sports content to Amazon Prime members. This partnership underlines our strategic ambition to reach people across every screen.  Amazon Prime members can now experience the shows that are loved by Discovery fans as well as enjoy an exciting summer of sport which is about to kick off on the Eurosport Player.”

MGM just announced that they are bringing their MGM Branded SVOD service to Amazon Channels in the UK, more details below.

Beginning May 23, 2017, viewers will be able to stream such MGM titles as The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, 21 Jump Street, The Terminator, French Kiss, The Birdcage, Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Blue Velvet.  Coming soon to the channel is the Rocky franchise, A Fish Called Wanda, Thelma & Louise, Legally Blonde, West Side Story, Pink Panther and Hector and the Search for Happiness, among others.

“The MGM branded service offers a large selection of hit films and Amazon Channels is the perfect home for the new service as it offers subscribers extraordinary access to MGM’s library through its easily navigated digital entertainment platform,” said Chris Ottinger, MGM’s President, Worldwide Television Distribution & Acquisitions.
