Amazon has announced that it is rolling out its Alexa Guard feature to its Echo device user in the US, the feature launched last year but it was only available on an invite basis.
The Alexa Guard feature lest Alexa listen for uncommon sounds in your home while your away, things like glass breaking or a smoke alarm going off. If these are triggered that Alexa will send out Smart Alerts which audio clips.
Also if you device has a camera built in then it will show you a video of what is happening in your home. The feature also comes with other useful security features, like being able to mimic your smart light usage in your home.
You can find out more information on all of the security features on Alexa Guard over at Amazon, this feature is not designed to replace regular alarms and it wont alert the Police if your home is broken into.
