During the Photoshop World 2011 Keynote, Adobe took the opportunity to unveil their new ‘Real’ Photoshop iPad application, which is currently under development by Adobe.
The live demo showcased the layer animation feature within the new app together with a couple of examples of some of the standard functions any Photoshop user would expect. Taking a more advanced approach to photo editing when compared to the already available Adobe Photoshop Express application, that allows a few tweaks to be made on photos.
Advanced Features and Capabilities
The new ‘Real’ Photoshop iPad app is set to revolutionize mobile photo editing by incorporating many of the advanced features found in the desktop version of Photoshop. Users can expect to see tools such as advanced layer management, precise selection tools, and a variety of filters and effects that are not available in the Photoshop Express app. The layer animation feature, which was highlighted during the demo, allows users to create complex animations directly on their iPad, making it a powerful tool for both photographers and graphic designers.
Moreover, the app is designed to take full advantage of the iPad’s touch interface, offering a more intuitive and hands-on approach to photo editing. This includes gesture-based controls for zooming, rotating, and manipulating images, which can significantly speed up the editing process. The app also supports Apple Pencil, providing an additional level of precision for tasks such as retouching and detailed drawing.
Potential Impact on the Creative Industry
The introduction of a fully-featured Photoshop app for the iPad could have a significant impact on the creative industry. For professionals who are constantly on the move, the ability to perform high-level photo editing on a portable device can be a game-changer. This could lead to increased productivity and flexibility, as creatives would no longer be tied to their desktop computers for complex editing tasks.
Additionally, the app could democratize access to professional-grade photo editing tools. Aspiring photographers and designers who may not have the resources to invest in a high-end computer and software could use the iPad app to develop their skills and create professional-quality work. This could lead to a surge in creative output and innovation, as more people gain access to the tools they need to bring their visions to life.
Unfortunately, no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet, but as soon as it becomes available, we will let you know.
