Today Adobe has released a new update for its Adobe Lightroom software, taking it to version 4.2 and adding a number of new tweaks and bug fixes together with additional support for extra cameras that capture RAW image format pictures.
The latest Adobe Lightroom 4.2 software release is supported by both Windows PC and Mac OS X, and over 40 new lenses have been added to the Lens Profile Support within Lightroom 4.2.
The most notable new support within Lightroom 4.2 includes support for Canon’s EOS 650-D/Rebel T4i, and Canon EOS M, as well as the Leica S, D-LUX 6, and V-LUX 4.
Enhanced Camera and Lens Support
Adobe Lightroom 4.2 has significantly expanded its camera and lens support, making it a more versatile tool for photographers. The inclusion of support for Canon’s EOS 650-D/Rebel T4i and Canon EOS M is particularly noteworthy, as these cameras are popular among both amateur and professional photographers. Additionally, the Leica S, D-LUX 6, and V-LUX 4 are high-end cameras that benefit from the advanced RAW processing capabilities of Lightroom.
The update also includes support for over 40 new lenses, which means photographers can now take advantage of precise lens corrections for a wider range of equipment. This is particularly beneficial for those who use third-party lenses or older models that may not have been supported in previous versions. The Lens Profile Support feature automatically corrects lens distortions, chromatic aberrations, and vignetting, ensuring that images are as true to life as possible.
Bug Fixes and Performance Improvements
In addition to new camera and lens support, Adobe has addressed a wealth of bugs and issues in this release. These fixes enhance the overall stability and performance of the software, making it more reliable for daily use. Some of the key bug fixes include resolving issues with tethered shooting, improving the accuracy of the spot removal tool, and fixing problems related to the import and export of images.
Adobe has also made several performance improvements in Lightroom 4.2. Users will notice faster load times, smoother navigation, and quicker rendering of images. These enhancements make the software more efficient, allowing photographers to spend more time editing and less time waiting for the software to catch up.
“Lightroom 4.2 is now available as a final release on Adobe.com and through the update mechanism in Lightroom 4. The goal of this release is to provide additional camera raw support, lens profile support, and address bugs that were introduced in previous releases of Lightroom.”
As well as the new camera support, Adobe has also ironed out a wealth of bugs and issues, all of which are listed on the website.
For those who rely on Lightroom for their photo editing needs, this update is a welcome improvement. The expanded camera and lens support, combined with the numerous bug fixes and performance enhancements, make Lightroom 4.2 a more powerful and reliable tool for photographers of all levels.
