We have been hearing rumors for a while that Apple intends to launch a Retina display version of their 13 inch MacBook Pro, and now according to a recent report Apple is expected to unveil the new 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro at their iPad Mini launch event.
Last week we heard that Apple will be holding their iPad Mini launch event on the 23rd of October, of course this date has yet to be confirmed by Apple, but if correct we can expect invites to the event to go out this week.
The 13 inch Retina Display MacBook Pro is rumored to feature a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, this compares to a resolution of 2,880 x 1,800 pixels on the new 15 inch Retina MacBook Pro.
Expected Features and Specifications
In addition to the impressive Retina display, the 13 inch MacBook Pro is expected to come with several other enhancements. These may include a faster processor, potentially from Intel’s latest line of chips, which would significantly boost performance. Additionally, it is likely to feature improved graphics capabilities, making it an excellent choice for both creative professionals and gamers. The new model may also come with increased RAM options, starting from 8GB and going up to 16GB or more, ensuring smooth multitasking and better overall performance.
Another anticipated feature is the inclusion of USB-C ports, which have become a standard in Apple’s recent product lines. This would provide faster data transfer speeds and more versatile connectivity options. The laptop is also expected to have a longer battery life, thanks to more efficient hardware and software optimizations.
Market Position and Pricing
Apple is expected to sell the 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro alongside the existing 13 inch model. The Retina version will be priced higher than the existing model, similar to the 15 inch Retina MacBook Pro. This pricing strategy allows Apple to cater to different segments of the market, offering a premium option for those who need the enhanced display and performance, while still providing a more affordable option for budget-conscious consumers.
The introduction of the 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro could also impact the sales of other Apple products. For instance, users who were considering the 15 inch model might opt for the more portable 13 inch version if it meets their performance needs. This could lead to a shift in Apple’s sales dynamics, with the 13 inch Retina model potentially becoming one of the best-selling laptops in their lineup.
