The 12.9-inch iPad, expected to launch as the iPad Pro, was spotted in the rumor for some time earlier this year. Several reports hinted that Apple will not launch the larger iPad this year.
According to a new report, citing people familiar with the matter, the long-rumored 12.9-inch iPad is expected to see the light of the day early 2015.
The report from Bloomberg, citing people who want to remain anonymous said that the production of the larger iPad Pro is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2015, so we can expect the device to launch in early 2015. The report further said that Apple is expected to launch the larger iPhones at a press event on September 9th.
The new iPad will have a screen measuring 12.9 inches diagonally, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the details aren’t public. Apple currently produces iPads with 9.7-inch and 7.9-inch displays. The Cupertino, California-based company has been working with suppliers for at least a year to develop a new range of larger touch-screen devices, said the people.
Just like smartphones, the tablets are getting bigger day-by-day as well. Samsung has already launched the 12.2-inch Galaxy Note Pro, and since Apple iPad sales are following a downward trend from the last two quarters, it makes sense to release something interesting.
We’ll update you as soon as we get any interesting information about the oversized iPad.
