Using 10,000 Lego pieces and nine months of hard graft, master Lego builder “Marshal Banana” has created a remote control Lego re-creation of a Star Wars Sandcrawler.
The Lego Sandcrawler is complete with lights, working treads, remote control ramp, and working crane, together with a working interior conveyor belt. Inside it has three floors in the front half of the model and a detailed cockpit with a removable roof, a second crane in the back of the workshop, and a lighted smelter. Watch the video after the jump to see the Lego Star Wars Sandcrawler in action.
The Intricate Details of the Lego Sandcrawler
The Lego creation measures Minifigscale: 96 cm long, 100.5 cm long and weighs in at approximately 20kg. In total, it’s powered by 4 XL motors, 5 M motors, 4 receivers, 4 battery packs, and 22 Lego LED-lights. The attention to detail is astounding, with each component meticulously designed to replicate the iconic vehicle from the Star Wars universe. The working treads allow the Sandcrawler to move just like its on-screen counterpart, and the remote control ramp and crane add an extra layer of functionality and realism.
The interior is equally impressive. The three floors in the front half of the model are fully accessible, allowing for a closer look at the intricate design. The detailed cockpit, complete with a removable roof, provides a glimpse into the control center of the Sandcrawler. The second crane in the back of the workshop and the lighted smelter add to the authenticity, making this Lego creation a true masterpiece.
The Engineering Behind the Masterpiece
Creating such a complex model required not only creativity but also a deep understanding of engineering principles. The use of multiple motors and receivers ensures that the Sandcrawler can perform a variety of functions simultaneously. The 4 XL motors provide the necessary power for movement, while the 5 M motors handle the more delicate operations, such as the crane and conveyor belt. The 22 Lego LED-lights not only illuminate the model but also add to the overall aesthetic, making it a stunning display piece even in low light conditions.
The remote control functionality is another highlight of this creation. It allows the builder to control the Sandcrawler’s movements and operations from a distance, adding an interactive element to the model. This feature is particularly impressive given the size and weight of the Sandcrawler, which measures 96 cm long and weighs approximately 20kg. The ability to control such a large and complex model remotely is a testament to the builder’s skill and ingenuity.
The video below showcases the Lego Star Wars Sandcrawler in action, highlighting its various features and functionalities. From the working treads to the remote control ramp and crane, every aspect of this model has been carefully crafted to provide an authentic and immersive experience.
This Lego Sandcrawler is not just a toy; it’s a work of art that showcases the incredible potential of Lego as a medium for creative expression. Whether you’re a Star Wars fan, a Lego enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates fine craftsmanship, this model is sure to impress.
