Earlier today we told you that Samsung had sold around 50,000 of the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, well it looks like that report could be wrong, as according to Reuters, Samsung have shipped around 800,000 units of the Galaxy Gear since it launched two months ago.
The news comes direct from Samsung, who have told Reuters that sales of the Samsung Galaxy gear have been better than they had expected and they have now shipped out 800,000 Galaxy gear devices.

“It’s the most sold wearable watch available in the market place…and we plan to expand its availability by expanding mobile devices that work with the Gear,” Samsung said in a statement.
Samsung normally quotes their figures for devices in shipments rather than sales, so whilst they have shipped out 800,000 of these devices to retailers, there are no details on the exact sales figures.
Shipments of 800,00 units is certainly impressive for the Samsung Galaxy Gear, and demand for the device must be considerably higher than previously rumored.
The Samsung Galaxy Gear retails for $299, and Samsung recently released a software update for the device, that adds in a range of new functions.
Samsung have also been updating various smartphones to make them compatible with the Galaxy Gear, when the device launched it was only compatible with the Galaxy Note 3.
