Life Sized Model Boat Kit
The Life Sized Model Boat Kit is the creation of Swedish artist Michael Johansson, and as you can see from the photos it is based on those model kits that many of us made when we were kids, and it is actually built on a 1:1 scale based on a real boat.
A boat and related equipment are joined together in a welded metal frame. Everything is painted in a unifying plastic layer to resemble the surface of a model kit. The real boat is transformed into a model of itself, and its original purpose has given way to something else.
The Life Sized Model Boat Kit was built for an art exhibition in Malmo Sweden, back in 2001, and it is still intact today, as you can see from the photos.
