Developing a successful application for the iPhone can make developers a fair bit of money, now one developer has shared their earnings from the first day of their new application using Apple’s iAds platform.
The developer made a total of $1,400 on his first day through iAds when his new free application went live on iTunes, and the application was only a simple app that controls the cameras flash on the iPhone 4.
This is from a utility app that was released today. I was quite surprised by the return, though I’m not sure if it will keep up. It seems that people may still be enjoying the novelty of iAds.
This could have been a one off, although if this sort of revenue continued, Apple’s iAds could become an alternative income stream for developers who could release thier applications for free, which is great for iPhone users and then get their income from the advertising.
It will be interesting to see how Apple’s iAds platform develops and whether it will actually make enough money for developers to release more free applications.
