It’s been over a week since Xiaomi unveiled the Mi 5 flagship device in China, and it seems the handset has received its fair share of success in its home country.
The first flash sale of the Xiaomi Mi5 took place on March 1st, and according to a report, the company sold a whopping 4 million units of the handset in the first flash sale.
Over 17 million people registered for the sale, and the company was sold out in minutes of all the handsets they prepared for the handset.
It’s pretty obvious that the company didn’t anticipate the demand of the handset correctly — it sold like hotcakes — and have asked Foxconn and Inventec to boost the production of the device. The handset is only available in China at the moment, but the company is expected to launch the handset in other markets such as India where it has received its fair share of success.
We’ll update you if the company launches the Xiaomi Mi5 in other global markets. Stay tuned.
