Xiaomi has officially announced the Redmi 2 smartphone which features a decent set of specifications, and comes with an affordable price tag. The handset is expected to hit retail in China on January 9th, Friday, carrying a CNY 700 price tag, which is very attractive considering the feature set the handset has to offer.
The handset comes in a multitude of color options to choose from, and features a 4.7-inch display boasting a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels.
Xiaomi Redmi 2 is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2GHz with Adreno 306 GPU and 1GB of RAM. As far as the storage is concerned, there’s 8GB of internal memory with a microSD card slot of up to 32GB which is quite enough for most tasks.
The handset comes with dual-SIM connectivity, both of which supports 4G connectivity for most Chinese and international carriers, except China Telecom which can only utilize 2G on the SIM2 slot.
Other features include Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS + GLONASS, 2,200 mAh battery, 8MP rear camera for photos and videos, and 2MP front-facing camera which comes with 720p video recording capabilities as well.
There’s no word if the handset will hit international markets, but we’ll update you if we get any information about its launch in global markets.
