Last week Microsoft announced that they would be releasing a Windows 10 ROM for Android devices, the company also announced that they had teamed up with smartphone maker Xiaomi.
The company said that owners of the Xiaomi Mi4 smartphone would be able to try out Windows 10 on their handset and now we have some pictures of the handset running Microsoft’s new mobile OS.
Through a new program with Xiaomi, one of the top smartphone distributors in the world, a select group of Xiaomi Mi 4 power users will be invited to help test Windows 10 and contribute to its future release later this year. These power users will have the opportunity to download the Windows 10 Technical Preview – installing it and providing their feedback to Microsoft.
Microsoft is expected to release Windows 10 ROMs for other Android smartphones in the future, there are rumors that the company may also release the software for ZTE smartphones.
The company is obviously looking to expand their mobile platform to as many devices as possible, and whilst sales of their handsets are considerably behind that of Android and iOS devices, by offering a ROM for Android handsets, they may be able to boost users of their mobile platform.
