Xiaomi is expanding to international markets, and received their fair share of success, especially in India, where the company sold thousands of units.
It appears the Chinese OEM may offer its latest flagship device, the Xiaomi Mi4, in India in the coming months, alongside the Redmi Note.
When asked about the launch of the Xiaomi Mi4, Barra said the company is planning to launch the device in India in late December or early January 2015. Additionally, the launch of the Redmi Note wouldn’t be a problem, even if they are launched together. However, that’s not what the company usually do, that is, launching multiple devices at the same time as it creates confusion among the consumers.
“We don’t have a date for Mi 4 yet. I am going to stick with what I said earlier which is still the plan -launch it late December 2014 or early January 2015. I don’t think the Redmi Note would conflict with MI 4 even if we launch them together. We never launch devices at the same time because we like to be focused. I wouldn’t have two devices in the same category available at the same time because it creates customer confusion. Largely we would like to have one device per family available at a time – like the Redmi and MI 3 available at the time,” Hugo Barra said during an interview with Economics Times.
He further revealed the company won’t sell the Xiaomi Mi3 in the region anymore, and will just try to clear out the inventory they have. Recently, the company sold 25,000 Xiaomi Mi3 units for those customers who’ve attempted five times to get the handset, but failed to do so.
He didn’t give out any exact launch dates, but we’ll keep an eye on the news, and update you as soon as the handset is available for sale.
