Last month, Xiaomi unveiled their latest Mi Max 2 smartphone, but the handset was only limited to China at launch. However, it seems customers in Malaysia can now purchase the handset.
A local Malaysia retailer DirectD has listed the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 64GB variant on its website carrying a price tag of RM 1,499 (almost $350). Only the gold color option is available at the moment.
Specifications and Features
The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is designed to cater to users who prefer larger screens. The handset comes with a massive 6.44-inch display sporting a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels, which ensures a crisp and clear viewing experience. This makes it ideal for media consumption, gaming, and productivity tasks.
Under the hood, the Mi Max 2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. This octa-core processor is known for its balance between performance and power efficiency, making it suitable for everyday tasks and moderate gaming. The device is paired with 4GB of RAM, which should be sufficient for multitasking and running demanding applications smoothly. Additionally, it offers 64GB of internal storage, providing ample space for apps, photos, and videos. For those who need more storage, the device also supports expandable storage via a microSD card.
The camera setup on the Mi Max 2 includes a 12MP main camera for capturing high-quality photos and videos. The camera features phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and a dual-LED flash, which helps in taking clear pictures even in low-light conditions. On the front, there is a 5MP camera for selfies and video calls.
Additional Features and Battery Life
One of the standout features of the Mi Max 2 is its massive 5,300 mAh battery. This large battery capacity ensures that the device can easily last through a full day of heavy usage, and possibly even two days with moderate use. The handset also supports Quick Charge 3.0, which allows the battery to charge up to 68 percent in just one hour. This is particularly useful for users who are always on the go and need a quick top-up.
The Mi Max 2 runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box, with Xiaomi’s MIUI skin on top. MIUI offers a range of customization options and additional features that enhance the user experience. The device also includes a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for added security and convenience. Other notable features include an IR blaster, which can be used to control various household appliances, and dual stereo speakers for an improved audio experience.
The availability of the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 in Malaysia is a significant development for fans of the brand in the region. The device’s combination of a large display, robust battery life, and solid performance makes it an attractive option for a wide range of users.
