Microsoft has now confirmed the date when Xbox Live Gold Family Pack subscriptions will convert to individual Xbox Live Gold accounts, announcing that the transformation will take place on August 27th, 2013.
On August 27th each activated account in your Gold Family Pack will convert to an individual Xbox Live Gold membership and each new individual memberships will have the same amount of time remaining on them as your Gold Family Pack does at the time of conversion. But Microsoft has also announced that it will be adding an addition 3 months to each account.
Microsoft explains the reasons it is closing the Xbox Live Gold Family Pack subscriptions:
“We continually evaluate our offerings and are always working to provide services that best meet the needs of our customers and Xbox. Any accounts in an Xbox Live Gold Family Pack are being converted to individual Xbox Live Gold memberships to prepare for new and exciting upcoming benefits and features on Xbox Live Gold. Through the new Home Gold feature, a single Xbox Live Gold membership allows anyone in your home to enjoy many Gold features, like multiplayer, access to Gold entertainment apps, and more on your Xbox One”
Microsoft has created a comprehensive frequently asked questions website which is hoped will be able to answer all your questions and concerns about the move from Xbox Live Gold Family Pack subscriptions to individual Xbox Live Gold accounts
