The Witcher series seems to be punching dramatically above its weight when it comes to storytelling. Lewd moments aside, narrative trappings from characterization to overarching plot have been consistently solid in CD Projekt’s mature RPG, perhaps owing to the game’s origins in Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels. The developer says the newest entry in the series will sport more than 300 intricate changes to the game’s three possible endings, depending on player choice.
“The game is quite complex,” said Managing Director Adam Badowski. “We didn’t mean to develop something special for the endings; it’s a natural consequence of the storyline. The story has hundreds of different branches and sub-plots. We have to just sum all of those elements up in the epilogues. Some of those elements are taken from the very beginning and some from other moments of the storyline. All of them will connect in the epilogue.”
