We have featured many different Xbox 360 console case modifications and PS3 mods here on Geeky Gadgets, but it’s not very often you get a Wii mod that’s as fantastic as the one created by a Copenhagen-based Modder, Martin Nielsen.
Nielsen, otherwise known as “Angel OD” on Bit Tech, has designed and created a custom Wii using a standard Nintendo console and transforming it into a wall-mounted, water-cooled, aluminium-milled: Wii UNLimited Edition. Innovative Design and Features
His creation includes 2 x 220mm tall water cooling reservoirs with a 70mm diameter, together with a digital thermometer which is situated on the top of the left reservoir. The reservoirs are not just functional but also add a visually striking element to the overall design. The water cooling system ensures that the Wii remains at an optimal temperature, even during extended gaming sessions, which can be particularly beneficial for maintaining the longevity and performance of the console.
The aluminium milling of the case adds a sleek, modern aesthetic that sets it apart from the standard plastic casing of the original Wii. This not only enhances the visual appeal but also provides a more durable and robust housing for the console’s internal components. The wall-mounted design is another innovative feature, saving space and making the console a centerpiece of any gaming setup.
Technical Specifications and Performance
In addition to its stunning design, the Wii UNLimited Edition boasts impressive technical specifications. The water cooling system is powered by a high-performance pump that ensures efficient circulation of the coolant, preventing any overheating issues. The digital thermometer provides real-time temperature readings, allowing users to monitor the system’s performance closely.
The custom case also includes additional ventilation to further enhance cooling efficiency. This is particularly important for gamers who engage in long gaming sessions, as it helps maintain a stable temperature and prevents thermal throttling, which can negatively impact performance. The combination of water cooling and enhanced ventilation makes this mod one of the most advanced and effective cooling solutions for the Wii.
Moreover, the aluminium case is designed with precision, ensuring that all ports and buttons are easily accessible. This attention to detail ensures that the mod does not compromise the functionality of the console, providing both aesthetic and practical benefits.
The Wii UNLimited Edition is not just a testament to Martin Nielsen’s technical skills but also his creativity and passion for gaming. It showcases what can be achieved with a bit of ingenuity and a lot of dedication. This mod is sure to inspire other gamers and modders to push the boundaries of what is possible with console modifications.
